Public School Board Candidate Forum Set for Sunday April 23 at 6:30 PM
Silverton Grange #748 Hall
The Silverton Grange will be hosting a public candidate forum on Sunday, April 23, 6:30 PM at the Silverton Grange Hall, 201 Division, off Water Street, Silverton. The purpose of this event is to introduce the public to candidates running for Silver Falls School District in the May 16th election. The objective is to inform as many people as possible on the qualifications and positions of each candidate.
All the Silver Falls School Board candidates have been invited and have confirmed attendance:
- Dixon Bledsoe
- Tom Buchholz
- Derrick Foxworth Jr.
- Joshua Ort
- Jesse Smith
- Eliza Torlyn
- Jo Tucker
- Phil Wiesner
The candidates will take a few minutes to summarize why they are running and issues of importance to them. Then they will be asked a few general questions and audience members will be able to write down their questions. Due to the number of candidates and response time, not everyone will be able to ask their question but we will try to consolidate common themes as much as possible. Grange President Cayla Catino will moderate the event and will have 2-3 questions for the candidates to address in turn to balance the discussion.
The Grange at all levels is strictly nonpartisan and does not endorse candidates for public office nor contribute to their campaigns. The primary objective of the Grange in holding candidate forums is to represent the views of Silverton residents and hear from candidates for public office. Everyone is welcome, so mark the date and don’t miss this opportunity to meet and ask questions of the candidates for the May 16 election.
